Guess what today is...

Opening day for the MLB! (That's the United States Major League Baseball for those of you not in the know.)

Okay, okay, technically opening day was yesterday (March 31st) but since China's a day ahead of the US, it feels like today is opening day.

I may not be a huge baseball fan or the most knowledgeable baseball aficionado, but even I'm excited for a new season of baseball. Plus the beginning of baseball season signals the start of warmer weather and (eventually) summer, two of my favorite things. I can't wait to get home and hopefully go to a Giants game soon.

So on that note, GO GIANTS!

Tears of Joy.

That's right, THE GIANTS WON THE WORLD SERIES!! Finally, SF has a world series title to call their own.

Sadly though, I had class this morning so I couldn't follow the game online, although I was sorely tempted to skip. Upon returning to my room though and finding out, I'll admit I shed a few tears of joy.

Who would've thought  at the beginning of this year that the Giants would go all the way? Not many. Regardless, that's the beauty of sports. So go ahead and celebrate San Francisco, it's definitely long-over due. I'd give anything to be there now myself.

But since I can't, I'll celebrate here on my own in Beijing (where no one I've met follows baseball).

PS. For those of you who couldn't care less about baseball, you'll be happy know that the World Series marks the end of the baseball season in the United States. After today, there shouldn't be any more baseball-related posts. Well..at least maybe not until the spring agian.

So long Giants! Amazing job this year and we'll see you again in 2011!

If you think baseball is boring...

here's why it's not: SF Giants' riveting approach just can't be called baseball

See? You were just rooting for the wrong team the entire time.

And for those of you who could care less about baseball, I promise more China-related posts will be coming soon. Sorry for the delay, I was unexpectedly swamped with homework this week.

Until then, GO GIANTS!

Guess who's off to the World Series..

That's right. The San Francisco Giants. Last night (this morning for me), the Giants beat the Phillies 3-2 to win the National League Pennant and a trip to the World Series.

Too bad I'm not home to feed off of all the excitement that I'm sure is buzzing around the Bay Area right now. Regardless...
Go Giants!

NLCS Bound!

Yay! After winning today's (well, technically yesterday's) game 4 versus the Atlanta Braves in Atlanta the Giants are off to face the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday at the National League Championship Series.

I unfortunately had class this morning so I couldn't listen to the game today. I'm not sure if that was a blessing or a curse. I guess at least I didn't spend the morning biting my nails to the quick. Regardless, onward Giants to the next game!

(Okay, okay, I realize most, if not all, of you don't care about how the Giants do in the MLB playoffs. But since I have no one to share this joy with here in China, I share with it with you guys via the Internet. Sorry you're just going to have to deal with it.)

Best in the West: SF Giants!

I'm now going to interrupt my normally China-related content for a shout out to the San Francisco Giants.

This morning, I awoke to the news that the Giants beat the San Diego Padres 3-0 to win the National League West championship. That means the Giants will be moving to the playoffs for the first time since 2003.

It's been a nail-bitter month for SF Giants with the constant shuffling of NL West standings but it's all worth it now since they've emerged on top. It's a bummer though that I've had to observe this all this baseball drama from 6,000 miles (9,500 km) away, though.

Now off to the playoffs. Go Giants!
